three ways to feel less awkward in your photos

Can you guess the first thing 99% of clients say when they get to their photo shoot?

"I'm so awkward in pictures"

or some variation of "I'm not good at this/ I don't know what to do so this feels veeeery weird/ Please don't judge me"

First of all: no judgement here!

It's literally my job to help you know what to do in your photos. You're not a model! No one is expecting you to just know what to do.

So don't stress. I've got you!

But also, easier said than done. So here are three ways to feel less awkward in your branding photo shoot!

Work with a photographer who you actually like

I know this is hard to know ahead of time, but if you’ve found someone who’s style you like head over to their Instagram Stories or website and get to know them to see if it feels like a good fit for you!

They should make you feel comfortable and like someone that you actually want to spend an hour with.

Send them an email and see how it's like to interact with them - that will be another good sign!

Don’t think about what you look like

This probably feels like the opposite of what you should do, but if you’ve planned your shoot, picked your outfits etc than your job is almost done!

This is the point where your photographer steps up and guides you through how to pose, where to look, what to do with your hands.

You don’t need to obsess about it because they will help you do exactly what you need to do to look and feel your best!

take a Breath and shake it out

If you’ve ever done a shoot with me you’ll know that I say this at least once.

We all (me included!) tense up and forget to take a breath. We all get that frozen face feeling.

Pause, take a breath, shake it out! A reset can feel so good and help you feel like yourself again.

bonus!

And one more for a bonus: if you’re willing to feel super awkward BUT get some of the most authentic feelings then laugh out loud.

Fake it. Toss your head back and Cruella deVille laugh.

I never force someone to do this, but if you’re game then I guarantee they will be some of your favorite photos of the bunch.
