If you’re a physiotherapist and you’ve been thinking about updating your website or refreshing your online presence, a branding photoshoot is one of the most effective ways to do it. Your work is personal, hands-on, and built on trust and your photos should reflect that!
Brand photography helps you show more than just what you do. It helps potential clients understand how it feels to work with you, what your values are, and why you’re the right choice for them. If you're not sure where to start or what to include in a physiotherapy branding photoshoot, here are five ideas to get you started and help you build connection with your audience.

Showing how your sessions look and feel is one of the best ways to help people choose you. When people can picture themselves working with you and know what to expect at their first appointment it helps them reach out sooner.
Things like:
These images help potential clients imagine themselves working with you and give them a sense of comfort before they ever walk through your door.

Whether you have a clinic, a shared space, or a home practice, your environment sets the tone for your business. Welcoming visuals of your space make your website and marketing feel more professional and trustworthy.
Show things like:
These images are great for your website, Google Business Profile, and any place where clients are looking for reassurance that they’re choosing the right physiotherapist.

Your tools tell us how you work and what clients can expect to see. Including them in your branding photo shoot adds credibility and helps your audience understand your approach, knowledge and experience.
This might include:
Including flat-lay photos or close-up detail shots can also give your brand visuals more depth and are great for using in website background images or graphics on social media.

Your experience and education matters! Behind-the-scenes shots of your certifications, continuing education, or professional development can help position you as someone who invests in their skills and clients.
We can show you engaging with
These photos work super well on your About page, service pages, and in your marketing when sharing about your experience.

People choose physiotherapists they feel comfortable with. Your expertise matters, but connection matters too! Don’t be afraid to show your personality.
Photos like:
These photos help people see the human side of your business and helps them know if you're the kind of person they will align with.

What do you believe about recovery, mobility, healing, or health? What sets your approach apart? Brand photos can support your values and show people what is really important to you.
These values can be paired with captions, blogs, website copy, and social content to build a consistent message across your online presence.
A branding session shouldn’t just give you a few nice headshots. It should create a library of photos you can use again and again to share your services, educate your audience, and build trust with potential right-fit clients.
If you're a physiotherapist in Ottawa and you’re ready for photos that match the quality of the care you provide, I’d love to help you create it!
Let’s plan a session that helps your clients see the real value of working with you.

I don’t have exact stats, but I’d say 9/10 people that I take photos of tell me “I’m not photogenic” or “I hate getting my picture taken” within minutes of meeting me.
It’s such common feeling and if you feel this way too just know that it’s not just you! Even most of those stunning boss women on my Instagram feed and website felt exactly the same way. And yet, you couldn’t tell from their photos.
So here’s how to get those photos of yourself that you love and that feel like you!

Decide that you’re enough exactly as you are right now. In this skin, with this body and everything that makes you who you are (I didn’t say these would be easy).
We all have things about ourselves, our bodies, our appearance that we’d love to be different. Things that make us uncomfortable. But as much as we’d love to change that immediately there is always a choice to make and you can either let that thing hold you back and make yourself feel smaller and less seen OR you can decide that you are more than those things and that you’re not going to shrink and hide because of it. Let yourself be seen.
Remember that others don’t see us the way that we see ourselves. The things that we fixate on don’t even register to others. They just see this amazing person who is so good at what they do, whose business helps them and who they connect with on a deeper level. Imagine holding that back from them because of our own stuff? You’d never want someone else to do that so don’t do it to yourself.
Here’s the thing: if you let the insecurities win it will show in your photos. You’ll probably still get nice photos, but you won’t get that next level makes-you-so-happy-you-cry looking at your photos kind of feelings.

Find a photographer that you love 😉 You’ll be hanging out with this person in a super personal and often vulnerable way for a couple of hours so how you feel with them has a huge impact on your whole experience! Obviously it’s hard to know this before you work with someone, but you can check out their socials and website to get a good feel of who they are and what they’re like. You can always do a Zoom call before booking if it makes you more comfortable too.

When you do a shoot with me you don’t need to know anything about your photoshoot before you reach out. We’re going to chat about it all and I’m going to plan it out for you! What you do need to know you probably already do.
These are just some of the questions in the questionnaire I send you when you book your shoot.
Then I’ll turn it into your personalized Shoot Plan which will have everything you need to know to get ready for your shoot! What to do the week before, what you need to bring, when to show up and all that jazz.
So that you’re not scrambling around last minute trying to find something to wear or forgetting what you were supposed to bring along.
You get to walk into your shoot knowing you have the right outfits, the right props and that I’ll take over during your shoot so you don’t even have to know what you’re supposed to do in front of the camera. That’s my job!
When your shoot arrives here’s what you do:
Then I’ll be there to take over when we get to the location!
I’ll guide you through the photos, the posing, props, where to look, when to smile, when to change outfits. All you need to focus on is remembering who you are, why you’re doing this for yourself and that you look like your absolute best self! I’ll make sure of it.
Ready for that kind of experience?

You know those busy seasons of life... like Christmas or any time that your calendar is maxed out?
I don't know about you, but for a lot of us what comes after those seasons are feeling to need to hide from the world and recover.
It’s a lot! And if you’re already feeling this you’re not alone. As business owners, we often carry this pressure to keep showing up even when our energy is fading faster than the daylight.
But here’s the good news:
There are ways to stay visible and consistent without constantly being online or burning out.
(and no, I’m not just going to say “get new Brand Photos!” as a magic fix-all 😉 )
The secret?
Having pieces in place that allow your business to run even when you need a break.
So when your schedule gets packed or you’re deep in hibernation mode and don’t want to show your face online…
Your business can still feel present, helpful, and alive.
Let’s walk through how to make that happen in a way that feels aligned with YOUR energy and biz goals.
Because there's no space for blanket-statement advice or "shoulds" over here. Take what you need, make it fit your style and apply it in a way that feels good to you.

We’re already trying to juggle a million things so please remember this:
You don’t need to be everywhere all at once.
That’s the fastest path to burnout, and we’re not doing that!
Instead, ask yourself:
Maybe posting once a week is enough.
Maybe this month is more about connection than conversion.
Maybe your business needs more warm and joyful content instead of sales-heavy content.
Don’t let the internet convince you that you need to do MORE to keep up.
You know your business best.
You’re allowed to choose a pace that supports you and your clients.

Once you’ve decided what your business actually needs during this busy season, you can start to make it real.
You don’t need a brand new, full blown marketing strategy you just need clarity and intention. Try this:
Now you can decide how to make that happen for you and your life this time of year. Maybe scheduling a whole content batching day works well for you. Or maybe it's doing one thing a day that aligns with your goal instead. There's so much advice out there around the "right" way to do it, but in my experience the one that feels the best for you is the one you're going to stick to.
Also remember that it's not forever! This is just to carry you through this season and then you're allowed to adjust and change it later.

You don’t need to reinvent the wheel. You probably already have more content than you think!
Here’s where to look:
I can pretty much guarantee you already have things worth repurposing. You just need to gather them and say the same things in different ways (or in exactly the same way if you want to really keep it simple).
And if you don’t have a library of branding photos you love yet…
Then it might be time to fix that
Let’s get you photos that work for your business

Putting these pieces together now might make the next couple of months feel less chaotic.
And more importantly it might remind you that:
So when life gets busy and you cozy up into hibernation mode…
Your business can still show up for you because you set it up to.

If you’re a business owner in Ottawa and you’re thinking about doing a branding photoshoot chances are you need some ideas on where your shoot should happen.
When you reach out and we start planning your shoot I will send you some suggestions based on the kinds of photos you need, but if you like to get some ideas before hand here are some of my favourite locations for branding photoshoots Ottawa!
I love it here! It’s a house that’s been renovated into a content creation studio space so it gives so much variety. There’s a kitchen, living room, dining room, office and two different bedrooms all with a neutral color palette and well decorated.
This is the space for your shoot if you want a more cozy, homey feel or if you want a lot of variety in locations for your shoot.

This is a large, open concept space that has a great combo of styled, furnished table/office area and living room/couch area. It has an industrial loft vibe to it, but also super bright and white with big windows.
This is the perfect space if you want some photos of doing what you do, using the table and various chairs, wanting more natural poses AND want some with simple backgrounds or space to play (like getting motion blur, etc)

Skye has 3 different studio rooms to choose from and they each have their own style and decor! They switch it up semi-regularly too so it’s always a good idea to check their socials before booking to see the current set up.
Their spaces are great for a photo shoot that focuses more on you!

This is a large studio space in Kanata that is similar in style and size as Quay Studio. It’s a great space to get a mix of lifestyle, you doing your thing and has space to move.

I haven’t actually used this space yet, but it looks beautiful! There’s unique features like stairs and arches that would be fun to use. The size and style of this space is similar to Skye in that it would be great for photos that feature you.
Ottawa has great studio rental options for your branding photoshoot, but if you’re looking for more ideas that aren’t studio then check out my other blog post for More Location Ideas!
